Chained

(Frightfest Day 5)
Impressively bleak examination of a skewed father/son relationship with an ending that would be far more powerful if Lynch hadn't been shying away from it for the rest of the film.

  1. Enveloped me in a progressively tighter grip of despair only to allow an amazing moment of light through to powerful effect when in its first twist it was revealed Rabbit had survived with his humanity intact. The second twist could have been cut but still added extra food for thought to an amazing film.

  2. Engrossing film with a problematic ending - a somewhat forced twist that takes it from the realms of intense character study to more conventional melodrama. Nevertheless, one of the most thought-provoking and original films at this year's Fright Fest.

  3. Didn't enjoy it. Just too grim and stupid. Or maybe I'm just getting soft.

  4. A fantastic 84 minute movie with an unnecessary twist tacked on that I felt added nothing.
