A taut found footage story that stays earnestly true to the purest conventions of the form. The first half is light, funny and entertaining, the second half is shit you up terrifying.
Found footage returned to its simple yet effective roots by masterful use of onscreen chemistry, script and imagination. Includes a one take shot that in itself is the best thing I've seen (and likely to see) all festival. Genius.
Takes the time to establish likeable, funny characters before switching from humour to fear and a taut exercise in minimalism. Shades of Blair Witch feel more like homage than pastiche. Excellent addition to the found footage sub-genre.

ReplyDeleteBold and masterful horror. Some proper filmmaking chops on bobcat!
