The Dead 2: India

(Frightfest Day 1)
Goes to great lengths to present a series of scenarios in which the inexorable creep of slow zombies becomes a genuine menace. For example dangling from a tree, or deperately trying to start an obstinate vehicle, or being in India.

  1. Successful attempt to make the first zombie movie completely devoid of suspense, fear, dread, or anything else that could be confused with excitement. Luckily the endless camera shake reminded me I should be excited.
    A deeply dull movie.

  2. A damp squib to open FF 2013. The Ford Brothers' follow up is a dull road movie, devoid of tension or interest, as cardboard cutout zombies lurch their way across screen in super slo mo.

The dusty locales of India are interchangeable with the dusty locales of Africa from the first film, and an annoying boy is thrown into the mix. The ending is predictably mawkish. The end result is a worse film than The Dead, which
    takes some doing.

  3. Liked this a lot, despite terrible acting from everyone, a hackneyed plot and a nd a whiff of racism as the white guy brained Indian upon Indian. I thought it not only had good tension and set pieces, it also featured the protagonist escaping zombies on a fan/parachute thingy, and a car rolling down an actual hill. A real modern b movie, with plenty to love
