Excellent tale examining familial complexities that can occur due to an over indulgence in brutal rape and torture at times of war.

  1. A bit slow but comes together well by the end. Villeneuve really plots his movies well I'm finding.

  2. Excellent drama against the back drop of an unnamed middle eastern war that layers bleakness on bleakness to create excellence.

  3. Familial revelation on a grand scale - Nawal Marwen's story is skillfully relayed through a succession of interleaved flash backs. The story takes place against the backdrop of the Lebanese civil war, but the broader scope of the political situation takes a back seat to personal history.

An emotionally involving, epic journey realized through top notch acting and lavish cinematography. Proper job.
