A psychotic's calm internal monologue is shown to be constantly at odds with his manic activities as he goes about his daily business.

    Possibly more interesting from a cinematographic point of view than thematic, with its weird angles and vertiginous crane shots, but also a more realistic insight into the life of the psychotic than the serial killer sub-genre often delivers - the thin plot embellished with lots of little real-life details like the dog getting under the killer's feet.

    One of Gaspar Noe's favourite films I just found out; it keeps some interesting company in his top 10.
