Let The Right One In [Låt den rätte komma in]

The original book already has a phenomenal story in place and Tomas Alfredson communicates it to the screen with breathtaking finesse.
How anyone could think that such a downright superb film requires remaking is beyond me.

  1. Just saw this recently, it really is astounding. The fact it's been remade is nothing short of horrendous and strikes me as a massive insult to the people behind it. Part of the appeal for me was the setting. Stories should (and do) come from everywhere; why does everything have to undergo a cultural shift to America in order to re-tell it? I've read comments from the new director saying how he has a personal love of the film and it's not mercenary motivations behind remaking it. Well if he loves it why wouldn't he just love it and leave it alone? Just ridiculous.

  2. Criticism of an unfinished film aside, Ali and Al are both spot on. This was very very good.

But in addressing the criticism of the remake.. why does everything have to undergo a cultural shift to America in order to retell it? Because the vast majority of people don't like subtitled films. Yes, they are idiots!
