The Bad Lieutenant, Port Of Call: New Orleans
Connected to Ferrara's film superficially at best, the story here is simply a backdrop for Cage to slowly frazzle into drug-addled madness.
There are so many outstanding moments in this film plus a surprising amount of straight up hilarity which all coalesces into something that can only be described as very special.

This years "film to beat". A deliriously brilliant black comedy hung on Nic Cage's best performance in 15 years. Your soul will dance.
ReplyDeleteFinally saw this yesterday and loved it. I was also overjoyed that despite the constant feeling that cage was heading further and further into an inescapable disaster there was a (more or less) happy ending, giving it a lovely feeling of 'ahh' at the climax. King!
