At first disappointing as you realise Burton has not made Alice In Wonderland but instead made a new story with the characters.
Then frustrating as Burton insists on showing entire events from the original story, despite the fact that it makes little sense to the new story.
And finally harrowing as you realise the new story you are watching is basically The Neverending Story being viciously raped by Speilberg's Hook before Chronicles Of Narnia steps in and finishes the job.
Essentially the same as Avatar; an uninspiring story told with great visuals.
ReplyDeleteThe fundamental differences are... Avatar retells another story verbatim while Alice has a very derivative fantasy story arc from many other stories... Avatar's action climax is spectacular while Alice's is actually just a bit balls... Avatar's characters are bland with one note performances while Alice's are interesting, varied and performed with great eccentricity.
Both were good, but Avatar was probably better. This will survive without 3D much better that most other 3D movies I've thus far seen.
