A phenomenal cast trading superb insults as they farcically recreate hideously bleak bulletpoints from a part of history i'm ashamed to admit i'm unfamiliar with.
Pretty accurate! At least in the characterisations if not all the details. Beria was pretty much boasting to the Polotburo that he'd murdered Stalin, and there's always a chance he was telling the truth. Everyone was great, but I especially liked Palin's spot on portrayal of Molotov as a loyal Stalinist, even as his wife was locked up as a traitor. More than a hint of Python in Stalin's Russia.
Agree 100% on the Palin. I got very excited when in clocked him at the beginning and he was absolutely on form. Isaacs surprised me a great deal by also being brilliant.
