A more mature Snyder makes Superman exciting once more, mostly through use of his peerless, visual bombast as well as sound design that left me feeling like my head had lost an argument with a hammer.

The fallout will be existential
After an epic prologue on krypton you essentially get a character drama about a man finding himself that turns into 45 minutes of exhausting but brilliant gods fighting each other spectacle. The bridge between the two is a little clunky (why would they take Lois into space?), but it doesn't matter too much when the pay off is so spectacular.
ReplyDeleteI found it a little hard to stomach the scale of the destruction. That must've been tens of thousands dead at least. Maybe a bit too grim and nolany for me but still lots to enjoy. Some great action - and no slo mo!
