Drive

Sleek neo-noir, loaded with style and topped with a light dusting of John Hughes' early eighties output to give it that bit more of an edge when shit inevitably goes wrong.
An excellent movie.

  1. Brilliant noir/grindhouse with a constant sense that shit will go wrong.

  2. Saw this last night, and have two lasting thoughts

Firstly, the obvious (and brilliant) irony in the lyrics of the closing sequence 'Real human being and a real hero' when this guys is clearly partly a psycho given we've seen him cave someones face in with his boot in an elevator.

Secondly, what a film for men this is. The only two female characters are a cheating, dumb piece of cannon-fodder and an ineffectual, doe-eyed object of innocence, seemingly living her life a the whim of the psychotic men around her!

    Brilliant film though!
