Micmacs [Micmacs à tire-larigot]

Jeunet liberally sprays this with magic creating some kind of amphetamine fuelled version of The Fisher King vs Tony Stark before he became Iron Man.
Very brilliant.

  1. Much brilliant imagination on show in a world which doesn't quite ring true leaving it with a slight air of irrelevance.

  2. Wouldn't disagree with that, but I still liked it best from our 2-film Festival jaunt.

  3. I preferred Up In The Air to this that day. Yes it's got loads of clever shit going on but I just didn't really give a toss. The other one found me strangely lacking in cynicism and managed to pull all my strings effortlessly in comparison.

  4. I found Up In The Air underplayed to the point of near-banality personally. I'd be interested to see it appear on here, but somehow I doubt it will!

  5. I too preferred Up In The Air from the two films we saw at LFF. It was a really well written and acted comedy-drama that avoided cliche and, as Ali said, didn't provoke the cynicism I usually feel towards romantic comedy.
