Bog standard Spielberg adventure coated in a shit ton of nostalgic referencing, all elevated by his acute cinematic knowledge. Who else could have the balls to drop The Shining in the middle of all this, and what a drop it is.
Having just finished the book was eagerly anticipating this and understood the changes from book to screen that needed to be made either from a stylistic standpoint or simply due to rights issues. That said the film just gave me a warm sense of nostalgia throughout and made me feel happy and entertained, and thats what its all about.

ReplyDeleteI don’t know. This sounds like it would be really annoying. At least i would go in with low expectations....but I think I’ll prioritise Isle of Dogs
