Marvel have never feared change to revitalise and now bring this strength to their film franchise, opening up a far wider, richer universe. Director Gunn's deft weaving of character, nostalgia, humour and luscious colour means that this is also the closest so far a Marvel movie has got to being like a comic book. And the tree's fucking ace.

Manages to follow the Marvel formula to the letter whilst simultaneously being unlike anything Marvel has done before. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteJust like everything Marvel has done before only worse - groan-worthy one-liners, average (at best) acting, over the top CG and uninspired plot. Worst movie of the franchise to date - and that includes Captain America!
ReplyDeleteGotta say, I'm pretty much sick of Marvel Studios now - depressing to think they've got about a dozen more products ready to roll off the conveyor belt over the next 3 years...
