Had enough intrigue and plot to distract from the usual CGI cartoon nonsense, though not enough to prevent the eyes rolling as yet another superhero movie climaxes with big things falling out of the sky.

A confused nest of serial killer flashbacks that sets out to be a hideous, scabrous attack on the senses and succeeds with an unsettling, gleeful vigour.
