Valhalla Rising

It would appear that the best way to break a film watching hiatus is with a metaphysical viking movie.
The cinematography mimics a graphic novel, the tone is closer to that of space exploration and the whole thing is soundtracked by droning, doomy, post rock. All of which calls for cries of pretension, but then one man's pretension is another man's genius.
I'm the other man, this is fucking ace.

  1. Sounds fucking ace. I need to see Bronson as well I think.

You've missed some good stuff at the cinema. I thought Scot Pilgrim was fantastic, despite having never read the comic, disliking Kick Ass and getting I little tired of Michael Cera. Salt's also great if you're a fan of retarded spy thrillers. I am. This is more Robert Ludlum than the Bourne Identity. And if Bonded by Blood's on, that's worth a watch toot. True story about Essex drug smugglers in the 90s. Cocaine fuelled psychoness galore.

Dinner for Shmucks isn't very good.

  2. Beautifully shot, fantastic atmosphere and an excellent mute performance at it's core made for a really very bloody good film. I just wasn't quite sure what the point was meant to be.

My second favourite of the 3 Nicolas Winding Refn movies I've watched of late.
