Ghost In The Shell 2.0

Contains a plot that is so convoluted and mired in philosophocial conjecture on what defines humanity that characters are required to precis it every 10 minutes, all set in a world so technologically advanced it renders human prescence meaningless anyway. Such complexity appears to be intended to dazzle, but just ends up suffocating the film and stripping it of any form of dynamic whatsoever.
This new 2.0 business looks fucking lush though.

  1. I'm confused now. Wasn't 'Innocence' Ghost in the Shell 2? Maybe this is the one I saw then... or maybe they're both full of pretentious literary allusions and the pace of a geriatric tortoise.

  2. This is the original Ghost In The Shell, only it's been spruced and rereleased. It's all been revoiced, rescored and large segments of it reanimated with CGI.
Innocence IS the sequel, but Oshii insists it is not Ghost In The Shell 2 but a stand alone story. That features the same characters. In a direct continuation of plot from the original film. He's obviously deluded.
Then there's Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex which IS a stand alone story TV series thing, however the title is not a reference to this. I have not seen this, nor am I giving any more of my time up for anything with Ghost In The Shell in the title.
    Clear as freshly laid shit.
