Bava’s last film, hidden away in an series of movies produced for Italian TV, still contains everything that made him a great director. Also co-directed by son Lamberto but contains none of the shit he’d bring to Italian cinema over the next couple of decades.

Better than F9 but only because F9 was utter bollocks and this is just stupid bollocks, except for Vin Diesel who resembles a single bollock with a very serious face.

Starts like David Lynch’s Uncut Gems and ends like Ingmar Bergman on weapons grade acid. Bold as fuck, relentlessly amazing and absolutely sure to piss a ton of people right off.

Alison’s Birthday

One of those films you can’t help but feel a little bit sorry for because it’s so cheap, everything is so cardboard and the acting is so stilted but despite all the shoddiness there’s an absolute gem in here that’s fighting its very hardest to get out on to the screen.
