A truly remarkable three hour parade of sticky mud, filthy barbarity and heavy allegory.

The Big Racket [Il grande racket]

A superb set of action sequences detailing an astonishing level of violence that tells the story of a cop who finds the only way to stop a brutal crime gang is to create a gang of his own bad guys and get them to just shoot them all. Absolutely king.

Could be improved if there was less of the boring stuff and more of the cool stuff, but that’s only really because for a Russian movie made in the Sixties the cool stuff is unbelievably fucking cool.

The Found Footage Phenomenon

At the start of this I thought ‘well, I no longer need to write my book on Found Footage movies’ and then by the end I thought ‘One day I might still write my book on Found Footage movies, but 70% of it will be this.’

The Sadness [Ku bei]

This is a fucking nasty movie.

Beyond The Infinite Two Minutes [Droste no hate de bokura]

A really neat idea that requires rigorous precision in staging and delivery, which in turn kills any attempts at story stone dead, so the film ends up just being about the really neat idea. It is really neat though.

Everything Everywhere All At Once

I did not expect to watch two multiversal films in the same week, and given how much I enjoyed the first one I really did not expect this to be so much better. But this thing is a fucking masterpiece. 

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness [IMAX 3D]

Sam Raimi brings his horror vibe to the MCU and it is so unbelievably fucking cool.
