127 Hours

Although Boyle excels at creating a strong visual interpretation of a trapped man's ruminations on his past, he can't escape the fact that the only exciting thing to happen in this particular chap's life is getting trapped under a rock in a canyon.

  1. Fantastic. Not quite as good as Boyle's best (Shallow Grave, Trainspotting, Slumdog), but at least on a par with 28 Days Later. Captures the state of mind of a man alone for a week quite brilliantly.

Last time Boyle made a movie (Slumdog) it set a benchmark for the year which wasn't topped. Again the benchmark is high, but probably not high enough to not be topped. Would've been 9 in my 10 had it come out last year.
