Jodorowsky's Dune

In which Jodorowsky comes across as a charismatic tornado of insanity dragging all around him into its vortex. I'm almost glad his vision was thwarted because otherwise I'd never have been able to listen to him telling me all about the craziness.

Santa Sangre [Live Score]

The Cabinet Of Living Cinema scored this with guitars, drums, little guitars, a viola, a bass, lots of bottles filled with water, plastic bags, childrens toys, an electric drill and a weird string thing they hit with hammers.
This effectively rendered Santa Sangre a silent movie but Jodorowsky is so visually expressive it was never difficult to understand what was going on.
The film itself is possibly the finest psychedelic interpretation of Psycho I will ever see, and the clattering score elevated it to truly epic proportions.

Fando & Lis [Fando y Lis]

A simple story of a man struggling with the onset of adulthood, instead choosing to pursue a childhood dream whilst trying to maintain a relationship with his abused, paraplegic girlfriend, all rendered through Jodorowsky's kaleidoscope of surrealism.

El Topo

Heavy on bloodshed, mysticism, nudity and dwarves.
Light on sense, coherence, and plotting.
King.

The Holy Mountain

Crazed scattershot assemblage of surrealist imagery occupied with the usual themes of sex, religion, death, (re)birth, zoo animals and outlandish weirdness all overloaded with an unstable quantity of allegorical symbolism comprehensible by nobody.
