A stately samurai piece lightly seasoned with Miike hallmarks that grows exponentially into an absolutely fucking epic end piece. Miike's genius would appear to be effortless.
They might see it, but don't hold out much hope of them getting it Joe - I overheard one girl talking it about it to her mate in my local Chinese takeaway and her capsule review was 'fackin shit innit'.
I'm really looking forward to this one. Just sorry I missed out on seeing it at the film festival. I shall get myself down Peckham multiplex ASAP - just try and pick a time when the local urchins won't be there...
Very glad Miike decided against skimping on the samauri sword craziness.
ReplyDeleteAnd being shown at cineworld - good on them. Hope lots of people go and see it.

Possibly Miike's masterpiece. Really quite brilliant on every level (except 30 seconds or so of cgi burning animals).
ReplyDeleteAlmost certainly Miike's masterpiece. Absolutely phenomenal. I even liked the burning bulls.
